Lisa Stanley & Glenn Rogers

WELCOME

Born in Londons East End, Glenn has spent his entire working life in the music and theatre production business. It seems cliche in these days to say 'he came from a musical background', and he would be the first to point out that his parents were not professional performers.  However, Glenn's mum was an accomplished singer and dancer and dad played both the guitar and accordian. The family musical roots go back to Glenn's great grandfather who was professor of music at Oxford, and it was at Brookes college Oxford that Glenn studied for his masters degree in music. An accomplished orchestral arranger and contrabass player, Glenn's vocal ability was further developed at Londons Guildhall.
Glenn's musical influences are many and varied, but he is a self confessed Elvis fanatic! "I just loved the energy of the shows, from the early Ed Sullivan stuff right through to the Vegas shows of the early 70's".

Why Country?
"I didn't know what country music was, or pop, or rock n roll! Dad was in the navy and spent a lot of time in the States.  When he came home on leave he often brought records that were not available here. The house was always filled with music ..... Sinatra, David Whitfield, Elvis, Ernie Ford, Hank Williams, Frankie Lane, Slim Whitman, Johnnie Burnett ..... to me it was just music, we didn't differentiate the genre. My earliest recollection of singing was at a family party, I was probably about 3! I had a guitar with no strings (I still have it today!) and would sing the "yodley" song, which many years later was identified as 'Long Gone Lonesome Blues'. I can appreciate music of all types, but country music seems to yield the widest range of moods and styles so its always held my interest. The country scene in the UK and Europe has been under exposed for many years, the popular media seems to have a disjointed and stereotypical approach to the country scene which is neither accurate or helpful". Glenn has long campaigned on behalf of the scene and his work on other projects enable him to dedicate time to his biggest passion, promoting country music and new country music artists across Europe.
